Rally caps on
A few thoughts heading into tonight's game.
There's been a lot of talk about the great work of the Indians General Manager, Mark Shapiro.
Yet when they talk about him, they pronounce his name Sha-PIE-ro. Apparently, his name is Sha-PIE-ro.
This is Mark Shapiro:

Um, Mark? Your name is Shapiro. SHA-PEER-O.
I know it, you know it, our Rabbi knows it.
See you in schul on Saturday.

With Joe Torre officially leaving the Yankees, I hope this leads to the Empire throwing aircraft carriers filled with money and broads at A-Fraud. Let me be clear: I don't want The Rod anywhere near my beloved Sox line-up. I would rather endure an entire decade of J.D. Drew grounding into double plays than have to root for a team that would employ that smug, pursed-lipped, bitch-slapping choke artist. THAT is how much I loathe him. He is a cancer to any team he is on, a stat-padding glory hound who CANNOT come through in the clutch. We've seen it time and time again.
Dear Yankees,
Please get rid of Joe Torre and KEEP A-Rod.
Thank you,
A Red Sox Fan

Things I would like to see in tonight's game:
Beckett pitching well into the 7th.
Red Sox batters - other than Youk, Ortiz, and Manny - HITTING THE BALL.
More back to back to back homers.
C.C.Sabathia sobbing uncontrollably on the mound as he loads the bases. With Big Papi strolling to the plate. And Manny on deck, stretching his arms. With no outs and no one warming in the bullpen. And unicorns and rainbows....look, I'm just telling you what I want to see.
Jonathan Papelbon river dancing after a victory.
Things I DO NOT want to see in tonight's game:
Youk dropping the ball.
Our pitcher batting down an easy double-play ball, allowing more runs to score.
Julio Lugo forgetting how a double play ball works.
Dane Cook pretending he knows what baseball is.
Eric Gagne.
Things I DO NOT want to hear tonight:
Tim McCarver uttering the phrase: "This is exciting. It's like watching a Yankees game." Seriously, how did these guys get to announce the Play-Offs?!
.......
Their backs to the ball, one game away from elimination...can they rally? I say yes.
Let's Go Sox!!
